FAQ about End of Service Benefit
End-of-service benefit is calculated per Saudi labor law: half month salary for each of the first 5 years, and one full month salary for each year after. The last basic salary + housing allowance + transportation allowance is used. Partial years are calculated proportionally.
A worker is entitled to the full benefit when: a fixed-term contract ends, the employer terminates the contract, the worker resigns after 10+ years, work is left due to force majeure, or a woman resigns within 6 months of marriage or 3 months of giving birth.
Yes, but based on service duration: less than 2 years = no benefit, 2-5 years = one-third, 5-10 years = two-thirds, more than 10 years = full benefit. This applies to normal resignation. If there is a legitimate reason (like contract violation), the worker gets the full benefit.
Yes, end-of-service benefit includes: basic salary + housing allowance (or in-kind housing) + transportation allowance. It does not include: irregular commissions and bonuses, and overtime pay. If housing is in-kind (company-provided), it is estimated at 25% of basic salary.
The employer must pay end-of-service benefit within one week if the employer terminated the contract, or within two weeks if the worker terminated it. Delay gives the worker the right to file a complaint with the labor office.
