📈 Stocks Zakat Calculator
Compute Zakat on stocks based on intent
📌 Sharia Notes
- If shares are bought for trading: zakat is 2.5% on full market value
- If long-term investment: zakat is 2.5% on the zakatable portion of the company assets
- Total must reach nisab (≈ 22,000 SAR) and complete a Hijri year
How Zakat on Stocks Works
This calculator helps you estimate the zakat due on shares you own based on your reason for holding them. In Islamic jurisprudence the treatment of stocks depends on intention. If you buy and sell shares actively for trading, the shares are treated like trade goods, and zakat is generally calculated on their full current market value. If you hold shares as a long-term investment for their dividends, many scholars say zakat is due on the zakatable assets of the company, such as cash and inventory, rather than the entire share price.
Zakat applies only when your wealth reaches the nisab, the minimum threshold, and a full lunar (Hijri) year has passed over it. The customary rate is 2.5 percent.
Using the Tool Responsibly
Select your intention, enter the value of your holdings and any related figures the tool asks for, and it returns an estimated amount based on a 2.5 percent rate. Treat the result as guidance to help you plan, not a binding ruling.
Because companies differ and scholarly opinions vary, especially for long-term portfolios, it is wise to confirm the exact method with a qualified scholar or a trusted fatwa body before paying. Accurate figures and sincere intention matter more than the convenience of any calculator.
