About the Hemophilia Treatment Calculator

This tool helps estimate the amount of clotting factor concentrate needed during a bleeding episode or before a procedure. It supports both Factor VIII (for hemophilia A) and Factor IX (for hemophilia B), the two most common inherited bleeding disorders. You enter the patient body weight and the target factor level, and the calculator applies the standard dosing relationships used in clinical practice to suggest an approximate dose in international units.

Hemophilia A and B are caused by missing or reduced clotting proteins, which leads to prolonged bleeding, joint bleeds, and bruising. Replacement therapy temporarily raises the factor level so the blood can clot more normally. Because Factor VIII and Factor IX behave differently in the body, the calculator treats each one separately when estimating the units required.

How to use it safely

Enter the weight, choose the factor type, and set the desired rise in factor level for the situation, then read the estimated dose. Treat every result as a planning aid only. Actual dosing depends on the bleed severity, product type, recovery rate, and the patient individual response, so it must always be confirmed by the treating hematologist or specialist center before any product is given.
