What is Fidya?
Fidya is obligatory for those who cannot fast due to a permanent excuse that is not expected to be removed, such as:
- Chronic illness (diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease)
- Old age and inability to fast
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding with fear for the fetus or infant (according to some scholars)
