The Citizen Account is a government program providing direct monthly cash support to eligible Saudi families to offset the impact of economic reforms. This guide explains the support amount per category, eligibility and the income cap, and how support is calculated — with a worked example.
Support amounts per person (2026)
| Category | Estimated monthly support |
|---|---|
| Head of family | About SAR 720 |
| Adult dependent (18+) | About SAR 360 |
| Child dependent (under 18) | About SAR 216 |
These are full-support values for low-income families; the actual amount decreases gradually as income rises.
Eligibility and the income cap
- The applicant must be a Saudi national residing in the Kingdom.
- The household's total income must be within the eligible limits.
- Support stops entirely once monthly income exceeds SAR 20,000.
How is support calculated?
The program uses a formula that sums the support for family members (head + adults + children) to form a "break-even point," then deducts a portion based on actual income. Low-income families receive the maximum support, which tapers as income rises.
Worked example
A family of a head + wife (adult) + two children, with low monthly income:
Calculation: 720 (head) + 360 (wife) + 216 × 2 (two children)
Maximum support ≈ SAR 1,512 per month.
