GOSI Pension Guide

The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) manages the retirement system for the private sector in Saudi Arabia. Understanding how your pension is calculated helps you plan your financial future more effectively.

For Non-Saudi Employees

Employers pay only 2% for non-Saudi employees to cover occupational hazards. Non-Saudis are not covered under the pension or SANED branches.

How Is the Pension Calculated?

The pension is calculated using a clear formula:

Pension = (Average salary of last 2 years) x (Months of contribution) / 480

Practical Example

Employee with average salary in last 2 years = 15,000 SAR, contribution period = 25 years (300 months):

Pension = 15,000 x 300 / 480 = 9,375 SAR monthly

Pension Eligibility Requirements

Normal Retirement

  • Reaching age 60 for both men and women
  • Minimum 120 months (10 years) of contribution

Early Retirement

  • Minimum 300 months (25 years) of contribution
  • Leaving employment covered by the system
  • Not yet reached age 60

Special Cases

  • Disability: Immediate pension regardless of contribution period
  • Death: Pension paid to dependents (spouse, children)
  • Work injury: Compensation based on disability percentage

How to Maximize Your Pension

  • Work as long as possible: Each additional month increases the pension
  • Ensure full salary registration: Some employers register a lower salary
  • Purchase contribution periods: You can buy back previous service periods
  • Avoid gaps: Breaks in contribution reduce the final pension
  • Plan additional investments: Do not rely solely on GOSI pension
